I have recently retired as a Registered Nurse (RGN), Registered Nurse Children (RNC), Registered Health Visitor (RHV). I have worked on various children’s wards, a regional cardio-thoracic unit, and with families in the community. I have also collected research data for the Child Health Department of Leicester University, Researching circadian rhythm development in babies, and nocturnal cough in asthmatic children.
I still have contact with health care professionals, including breast feeding consultants, local authority staff, and voluntary sector groups. I continue with re-tired membership of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN), and the Institute of Health Visiting (IHV). My enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) certificate remains valid. I am insured to practice.
I have a Health Studies (BA) Degree, a PG Diploma in Public Health, and a Teaching Certificate (City & Guilds). I have delivered inservice training, and taught health related courses in both University, and Further Education settings. I have completed a Holistic Massage course (ITEC), and Baby Massage Instructors course (FHT).
I attended sleep training with Millpond, and have a Child Sleep Consultancy Certificate (OCN Reading University). I completed the 5 day Sleep Practitioner Course (Southampton), currently the only sleep training course accredited by the Royal College of Nursing (RCN). I am a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) and the British Sleep Society (BSS). I continue to attend professional updates, to listen and learn from respected leaders in the field.
